Hawaiian Style Pulled Pork

When I think pork, I think pineapple. I just think the 2 compliment each other so well. Today, I felt like using the slow cooker. I found some pork tenderloin in my freezer so I decided pulled pork sandwiches would be lovely. I wasn't sure how I was going to prepare my pork but I knew pineapple was a must!

Ingredients:
Pork tenderloin or pork roast
1 small onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1-2 tsps fresh ginger, grated
1 can pineapple, plus juice (I would use crushed if you have it)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 small can tomato paste
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tsp onion powder

In your slowcooker, place your pork

Add 1 small onion, chopped

Grate in ginger, garlic and season with pepper, add 1 can pineapple plus its juice and 1/4 cup soy sauce

Add 1 small can of tomato paste, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/4 cup vinegar and 1 tsp onion powder. (obviously you see I added the pork first. It would of been easier to mix if I made the sauce before the pork but it still worked out fine)

Cook on low 7-8 hours or on high for 5 hours. Shred your pork with 2 forks once pork is very tender. It should break apart pretty easily

  1. This sounds so good my stomach just rumbled. I need to buy a slow cooker. What size would you suggest?

  2. You can definetly do this pulled pork in a casserole dish in the oven (as long as it has a lid) and cook it on low. I have a large slowcooker but that is because I cook for a family of 5.
